Assault: In Assault maps, there are fixed areas in which the defense team has to protect against the attack team.Hopefully, the players are preparing well for their first match of the new tournament cycle against the Hangzhou Spark on August 19th.Since Overwatch focuses on objectives, each of Overwatch’s maps has a particular objective. This has not been the first time though that the Seoul Dynasty has had potential obstacles put in front of them and persevered through. The Summer Showdown brings about a lot of new hope for the fans, but also some anxiety while seeing what the Korean Contenders teams have been playing. Snipers would have Profit and FITS in the forefront, though Stalk3r’s quick reflexes could put him up there as well. Sojourn would be FITS or Stalk3r, though Profit could also play her. All three can play Genji, though Stalk3r and Profit would come to mind more. Thankfully, the Seoul Dynasty’s DPS of Profit, Dongeon ‘FITS’ Kim, and Hakyong ‘Stalk3r’ Jeong is very flexible and overlap each other’s hero pools.

This is for the general population of pro Overwatch players, and Tracer in the hands of Profit could be more effective in some situations. Many times Tracer could be traded in for the Genji, but with health being a huge factor in this meta, the Genji has more survivability, moire burst damage, and more pick potential. On a few maps, such as Circuit Royal, double sniper of Widow and Hanzo has been seen or just a Widow paired with a Genji. Yes, other heroes such as an occasional Pharah or Ashe can be seen, but it seems as if APAC has jumped onto the Sojourn hype train finally.

The go-to DPS heroes in Korean contenders to be paired with the Junker Queen and Lucio/ Brig is Genji Sojourn. On this hero, he can pull out sure losses into miraculous wins.

It is no secret that Junyoung ‘Profit’ Park’s best hero in Overwatch is Tracer. It is not impossible for this not to be the worst, but it is worrying for the Summer Showdown. Though Vindaim had to flex onto Zen this last tournament and was a standout on it. No doubt Youngwan ‘Creative’ Kim can play either of the two, but his comfort would be more of the Zen, Ana, and Bap side of the support. Unfortunately, both are in the form of Junwoo ‘Vindaim’ Park. The Seoul Dynasty has an amazing Brig player. Health management and the ultimates become even more essential because of the Junker Queen’s anti-heal that comes from her Rampage. Having the supports be able to boost her speed of her as well as the over health then gives her more opportunities in the game, but on the flip side of this, the Junker Queen provides another hurdle for the supports. So many of the compositions that are being played on multiple map types are the configuration of double main support of Lucio and Brig. It seems as if the tempo is going to be important this tournament and whether or not Smurf on the Queen will be able to counter or push the tempo will be an important element to look out for. It isn’t bad, with him missing a few E’s but getting his job done. Smurf in his streams has shown some Junker Queen. When Hog was in meta, it was mostly Super who was on the hero. The Junker Queen is very aim-heavy and closely related to Roadhog’s hook. This puts a lot of pressure on Smurf, especially with Overwatch 2 being a one-tank game. A great and super flexible tanks in Myeonghwan ‘Smurf’ Yoo, but only one tank. This being said the Seoul Dynasty has one tank. The second most played tank would be Sigma, which was seen only on maps like Circuit Royal when teams were playing more long-range distance DPS. But the next round both teams went back to the Junker Queen. Some teams like Pantera vs WGS on Midtown tried out other tanks such as Winston, D.Va, and Sigma, but none were facing a Junker Queen. The brawl seems to be the most effective meta. Teams that have gone experimental with Ball haven’t gotten good results.

How to counter the Junker Queen? That has been the question in Korean Contenders and the solution has been to mirror it. Here are some worrying facts for the Seoul Dynasty fandom when it comes to the Summer Showdown. From support, DPS, and tank there seems to be a shake-up if Korean Contenders are any insight into what the Overwatch League teams may be playing. The biggest change is going to be the meta shift. With the end of the Midseason Madness fans have had to wait to see their teams play.
